Best Gift I ever Had
It was a fine day, I was sitting in our office idling and doing nothing since I had finished all of my work so fast and got nothing to do but stare at the empty screen of my laptop. I felt something weird and uncomfortable. So I try to do something that will surely distract this emptiness inside. I went to the CR, fix my self and do some retouch. I want to stay in the comfort room longer because it's the only place in this establishment that I feel at ease. That moment my co-workers went inside and I hear something from them. It is not my intention to eavesdrop about their chitchat but I hear my workmates talking about something that caught my attention.
"Gosh Cindy, I'd received the best gift I wish I had. My boyfriend bought me a house and lot yesterday and its kinda expensive."
"Wow! He's really that rich. How I wish my boyfriend will give me a house as expensive as yours."
"Haha yeah right! I heard you went to Palawan to spend your vacation there."
"Yes, we went there together with the whole family. It's their birthday gift to me."
"Oh really? How nice! Your big day was awesome. I wish to go there also maybe I'll bring my boyfriend there. It will be my thank you gift for him."
There loud talk and nonstop bragging last I think for about 20 minutes (they don't even seem to notice me the whole time that I was there or maybe they just want me to hear those crap.) After they went outside, I immediately finished my rituals and planned to go back to my cubicle and start a staring contest with my monitor. But then I found myself wondering about how the two of them was so proud of there gifts they even entitle those the 'The best gift they ever had'. I came to this realization, did I ever received the best gift of my life or if I really possessed one, what was it? It made me fall to a deep thinking that I didn't notice that I am reminiscing some of the past presents that I had received. Here goes the long list.
Well my neighbor gave a cutie patotie lil kitten which I named her Athena (i don't even know if the kitten is a "her") when I was in grade school. But after 3 years Athena died.
Dad gave me a pink bike when I graduated in grade school with flying colors which I despise because I don't actually like pink, I like blue.
Uncle Teddy bought me a roller skate but apparently the wheels was broken when my younger sister used it. I got mad and I didn't talk to her for months.
Mum bought a fabulous dress for the prom, I was jumping with glee because the dress was so awesome that everyone keep staring at me and I even won the Prom Queen award. Eventually the dress went out of style and no one likes to wear so it was stock to my wardrobe for years now.
Bernard, my boyfriend, gave an astonishing trip for our anniversary. We went to Camiguin, a beautiful paradise in Southern part of Philippines. We stayed for 3 days and went back to Cebu because we had work to attend to.
And the list went on and on. Thinking about those gifts, I realized that it seems I am not satisfied on those things that I received. I am always seeking and always has to say, if not those things will fade a way drastically. Maybe I haven't received the "best gift" yet. Hayyy!
I stared into my monitor and was about to resume working when the images of me and my family appeared in the screen saver. It was a photo of us on New Years Eve. Everyone is smiling from ear to ear, my boyfriend was there too. Now I found the best gift I ever had, and I actually had it a long time ago.
Now it's my turn to ask you, what's the best gift you had ever received?

Best gift I received of my entire LIFE, when finally he's mine, and each day I'm falling in love like the first time. <3 <3 <3.
ReplyDeleteWow so happy friend. All for the best for you guys. Material things will fade away easily but the LOVE you had for each other for sure will prosper.
DeleteIt's not about years, but it's about how both make it fresh, it's not about expenses gift, materials, but its all about attention and affection, not about how far, but it's all about soul and heart, the happiness and excitement every time i hear his voice. The relationship doesn't have 'but' eg: far, no time, but if truly love, I learned have patience, trust, loyalty, and faith and esp selos, that ever since didn't feel this way. Love can do everything that sometimes u did something that unexpected.
